Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of laoedtech.com, portal.laoedtech.com, canvas.laoedtech.com, and the LaoEdTech Student and LaoEdTech Teacher mobile apps (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms.

TL;DR We provide the LaoEdTech learning platform to schools in Laos. Schools manage their own students, teachers, and courses. We don't sell your data. The platform is provided as-is, hosted in Singapore, and we'll do our best to keep it running.

1. Who can use LaoEdTech

The Service is offered to schools, language centres, vocational programmes, and other educational institutions, and to the teachers, staff, and students at those institutions. Individual accounts are created by your school's administrator. If you do not have an account through a school, you cannot sign in.

If you are under 13 years old, you may only use the Service through a school account that complies with applicable child-protection laws. Your school is responsible for obtaining parental consent where required.

2. Your school's role

Your school is responsible for the courses, content, and decisions made within its own LaoEdTech instance — including grading, attendance, content moderation, and account management. LaoEdTech provides the technology, your school provides the education.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm other users.
• Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's copyright or privacy.
• Try to break, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service or its security.
• Share your account credentials, or use someone else's account.
• Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages.

Violations may result in account suspension or removal at the request of your school or at our discretion.

4. Content you create

You retain ownership of the content you upload (assignments, messages, course materials). You grant LaoEdTech a limited licence to host, display, and back up that content for the purpose of running the Service. We don't claim ownership of your content and we don't sell it to anyone.

5. Subscriptions and pricing

Schools subscribe to LaoEdTech under one of our published tiers (Free Trial, Starter, Standard, Pro) or a custom contract. Pricing is set on laoedtech.com and may change with 30 days' notice for new billing periods. The first month is offered as a free trial; after that, paid plans renew monthly or annually unless cancelled.

6. Cancellation and data export

Schools may cancel at any time. After cancellation, we keep your school's data for 30 days so you can request an export, then delete it. Individual users can request deletion of their personal account through their school administrator.

7. Service availability

We aim for high uptime but the Service is provided "as is" without warranties. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Scheduled maintenance windows will be communicated in advance where possible.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LaoEdTech is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees your school paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Open-source notice

The LaoEdTech platform is built on Canvas LMS, an open-source learning management system distributed under the GNU AGPL v3 license. Source code modifications made by LaoEdTech are available on request — email [email protected].

10. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll notify schools by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by negotiation will be submitted to the courts of Vientiane.
